Hey everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying your summer as much as we are. I know that most of us are just busy, busy, busy. Hopefully we have all been able to finish or are close to finishing Wicked. We need to figure out when to have our next meeting, so we will be sending out a quick email to see what works for everyone.
Also, just a update, I am always on the look-out for cheap books that are on our list, and at good ole Deseret Book here in Rexburg The Wednesday Letters in hardback is on sale for $4.99. Even if we don't decide as a group to read it, it might be one that you would want for your own library. Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th!!

New Book
Sorry if we missed you at the meeting last week, but we've decided to read Wicked by Gregory Maguire (see description below) . Me and Anna both have copies and its available at the local library. Let us know if you need to borrow a copy. We will be posting a new survey with the top picks from last month so check back to vote again soon. Thanks!
Wicked
When Dorothy triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum's classic tale, we heard only her side of the story. But what about her arch-nemesis, the mysterious Witch? Where did she come from? How did she become so wicked? And what is the true nature of evil?
Gregory Maguire creates a fantasy world so rich and vivid that we will never look at Oz the same way again. Wicked is about a land where animals talk and strive to be treated like first class citizens, Munchkinlanders seek the comfort of middle-class stability, and the Tin Man becomes a victim of domestic violence. And then there is the the little green-skinned girl named Elphaba, who will grow up to become the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, a smart, prickly, and misunderstood creature who challenges all our preconcieved notions about the nature of good and evil.

Meeting
Hey book clubers! I thought I would just post a little reminder that we are meeting to discuss The Alchemist next week on Wed 14th. If you still need to borrow the book let us know and we will try and help you find one.
I also just thought I would throw out a little suggestion, I went to a yard sale last weekend and found 2 books that were on our list and the cost of them together was $1.75. Just keep that in mind if you are a garage-saler.
Happy reading! See you next week, YAY!

Welcome Readers
We love to read and want to invite anyone from the community to join our book club. You don't have to be a student, you don't have to be LDS, you don't have to be married, you just have to like to read! So join our group! We will be reading a book every month. This month we have decided to read, "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho (see description below). At the end of the month we will meet at "The Uptown Bagel Cafe" here in Rexburg to discuss the book, eat good food and hot chocolate, and pick a new book for the next month. We are excited to start this group and think it will be a lot of fun. We have started a list of books we are interested in reading (see side bar) but are very open to new ideas. Please email us at rexburgbookclub@gmail.com or leave a comment if you are interested in joining us!
Thanks!
